The reasons why vegans have a much lower risk for getting cancer, and getting metastasis (recurrent cancer) are many. One is of course because the antioxidants are mainly found in fruits and vegetables and they fight any inflammation which is what cancer is. Most of our disease are inflammation based today; cancer, CVD, mental diseases, allergies, dermatitis, arthritis, PCOS…
Another reason is because protein coming from animals have a high content in the amino acid called Methionine and most cancers are dependent on it to grow, this is only one study proving this. That’s why most cancer patients can ‘magically’ stop their disease in 3 months by just becoming vegans. So what is so hard? The change of habits! Yes, the only problem is mindset. Science show that specially men are extremely stuck in their eating habits. Health professionals too. I have many times seen how the love for meat has made them twist and turn statistics in such ridicules ways only a human mind can do. Talk about chasing your own tale! This amino acid is also making us age quicker, so maybe this is also the main reason why vegans live so much longer even if they eat sugar, smoke, drink and rather watch TV than walk the dog. There are two ways to restrict Methionine; eat less protein, or eat plant based protein. Methionine is mainly found in fish, sea food and poultry. If you heard of dogs (or machines) that can smell cancer as a new (but ancient) method of detecting cancer, the metabolizing of Methionine gives off those gases that indicate cancer growth.
Our recommendation at Olive Retreat, is to stay away from as much animal sourced food (including sea animals) as possible (the chart shows the amount found in food). Can you see now why the protein (Paleolithic) diets to lose weight are devastating for our health (and the Earth, see previous blogs)? You might initially lose weight but in the long run you risk getting disease and over weight. But there are other reasons why animal sourced food gives you a higher risk for cancer and other diseases. One is the risk of parasites, bacteria and viruses. Almost all tumors have some pathogen in them. This is enough reason for me to cook it in a very hight temperature (some parasites survive) or just stay away. Inventing the fire (cooking) increased the human population severely. More on this in coming blogs and the detoxes you can do to get rid of these parasites.

My love for Ayurveda started in 1993 with Deepak Chopra and after a few turns in life I quit my job as a Nordic Brand Manager and BI strategist at the largest Nordic telecom operator and re-schooled in natural medicine. Besides Dr. Chopra I have studied Dr. Lad, Dr. Siva (Pune, India) and other prominent teachers in their field, but the real difference comes with a practiced.
