”Do your practice and it will come to you”

There are loads of studies that show the benefits of meditation when it comes to general stress, mood swings, depression, anxiety, insomnia, and even pain. Yes! It actually eases pain in our bodies too. The reason is simple. It lowers stress hormones or the bad effect they have on us, and enhances the ‘happy hormones’ (healing). In the long run it has much better effects than drugs, as these normally have undesired secondary effects…but you probably know all this.

If you still doubt the health benefits of meditation read this Meta Analysis (a study of the results from many studies) or search for other articles on Medline, the biggest database for medical research. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24395196

I once again use one of my favourite quotes, from an Ashtanga Guru called Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, that he often says when we (westerners) questioned, and tried to reason more than feel; ”Do your practice and it will come to you”, meaning don’t get stuck in thinking, just do it! And the answers will come to you, or the questions you had might not even be relevant after practicing. This is the best mindset for being healthy. You know what you need to do. Don’t reason. Just do it!
